Job Outline: A unique opportunity now exists for a highly motivated, creative and versatile individual to join the Avionics Engineering team. Test Engineering is among the core disciplines that determines QUK's ability to develop and deliver new (& existing) products in a cost effective and timely manner. The key activity within Test Engineering is to develop test strategies for new products, specifying test equipment, methods and acceptance limits. In this role you will be responsible for the test engineering tasks up to moderate difficulty with instruction and supervision, design and identification of test equipment to support future business requirements, and ensuring that designs' generated within the company are verified to meet the requirements of the project. Key Responsibilities: The main duties with this position will include: . To support the preparation of proposals/bids by interpreting the specification or requirement and preparing a costed Test Plan . Implement the Test Plan within cost and schedule budgets to support both Development and Production programmes. . Define the manner in which products are tested to ensure they meet the customer requirements. . Specify, design, develop and commission Test Equipment to ensure that Qioptiq products are tested in an efficient and cost-effective manner. . Define and perform First Article tests and qualification activities to demonstrate that designs meet required specifications. . Produce documentation to define and control the test process. . Maintain an awareness of current test techniques.


Personal Specification: It is essential that all candidates have the following: . An education to at least first degree level, preferably in Physics / Optical Engineering. . A technical background with strong analytical skills and practical ability. . Strong attention to detail and good inter-personal skills . The ability to work with and support business groups and other engineering functions. . Detailed knowledge of optical imaging systems . Experience of working within dynamic project teams and using structured problem solving techniques The following attributes are considered desirable, but not essential for the role: . Confidently liaise with customers and suppliers on product specifications / performance matters. . A very strong set of PC skills - including programming using LabView, Visual C++ and Excel Macros. . The ability to interface hardware with PCs. . Ability to communicate and feedback with all departments . AS9100 awareness and/or experience is desirable
