Background: Excelitas Global Advanced Manufacturing organization is a new corporate manufacturing engineering group under global operations. The objective of the organization, working closely with the respective global (Americas, Europe, and Asia) site leaderships and lean six sigma continuous improvement teams, is to formulate, implement, and harmonize our advanced manufacturing strategies across the global Excelitas factory network. Increased focus will be on Robotic Process Automation including AGVs and COBOTS, Digitization, Data Sciences, Additive Manufacturing, IIOT, MES systems, SPC, data visualization platforms, APC, and other technologies to fundamentally improve our factory's productivity. The successful candidate will be based in Fremont, CA.
. Formulate, implement, and harmonize our advanced manufacturing (systems and processes; hardware and analytics) strategies in order to be the most productive and glocally (global-local) optimized photonics global manufacturing network
. Provide thought leadership in Factory 4.0 solutions with an execution and results oriented mindset
. Drive continuous improvement/lean six sigma management planning and execution in partnership with local leadership using a balanced global and local optimization approach
. Provide support for advanced manufacturing and technology transfer strategic initiatives
. Provide business/operations/engineering data analytics and statistical analysis support to lean six sigma CI and advanced manufacturing projects
. Develop executive level and plant/site manager-level data visualization platforms to ensure factory's productivity and operations excellence are tracked and aligned with advanced manufacturing strategic initiatives
. Improve, streamline, and automate manufacturing processes and systems of measure
. Work on advanced manufacturing projects with local engineering teams at our factories and with external suppliers
. Working with IT manufacturing, both corporate and site-level, contribute to overall architectural design of OEE monitoring platforms, SAP/ERP MES, and SQL/datalake database design

Typical, strong candidates for this role possess a majority of the below attributes:
. BS/MS/PhD in science/engineering with a demonstrated academic record of excellence
. 5-12 years of solid engineering experience in a high volume manufacturing environment, esp. in process engineering (unit process or integration), equipment engineering, and/or hardware/software automation engineering, preferably in the semiconductor/photonics industry
. Experience in managing engineering teams, either directly or indirectly in high volume manufacturing environments
. Demonstrated track record to rapidly analyze and solve complex engineering issues by pursuing a focused solution path with a clear understanding of the point of diminishing returns
. Experience in lean six sigma continuous improvement projects in a high volume manufacturing environment; embodies the culture and lives by it
. Proficient in statistical analysis and data visualization towards problem solving and influencing clear, objective, decision making
. Proficient in statistical process control (SPC) ideation, optimization, and implementation
. Proficient in the use of Excel, JMP, R, Tableau and/or Python to automate complex analysis; comfortable with script writing and dashboard design/creations
. Experience in Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
. Demonstrated track record to summarize complex data sets for technical and non-technical audiences including proficiency in Tableau data visualization
. Highly self-motivated and self-directed with demonstrated ability to work well with people; have strong inter-cultural intuition and able to disagree and commit
. Demonstrated track record of hands-on experience and ownership around manufacturing equipment and process modules
. Strong verbal and written communications skills: from extemporaneous, freestyle discussion to structured synthesis of detailed technical reports to executive level distillation, having the ability to connect to business ROI
. Willingness to travel to sites in Europe, North America, and Asia
