Continuous Improvement Leader

Emplacement : Mississauga, ON, Canada

Description

This position will drive, deploy and manage Continuous Improvement initiatives for the Excelitas Mississauga site. The incumbent will partner with the site leadership team to foster ownership and buy-in of CI activities and partner with the CI-leaders of the other North American sites. The primary measure of success in this position will be the achievement of the Annual Operating Plan's PQP savings target at the site level.  Other success factors will be coordination and tracking of projects & savings and coaching & mentoring teams within the site so that over time they can become self sufficient in their Continuous Improvement efforts. 

Regional Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Excelitas CI-leader establishing standards for CI-related processes, metrics & trainings, rolling them out in the region and ensuring standard execution
  • Benchmarking CI-initiatives and solutions, share best-practices in the region
  • Mentor newly assigned CI-leaders in the region, train-the-trainers for CI-leaders
  • Assisting the Excelitas CI-leader with reviews and reports in the region
  • Facilitate regional CI-events like Quest for Excellence
  • Facilitate the Excelitas CI-leader with project review and CI-certifications in the region

Site Responsibilities:

  • Deploy Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing initiatives at the site
  • Provide leadership in the areas of Six Sigma and Lean to mentor site teams to deliver results
  • Assist in developing site process improvement goals and objectives and coordinate and champion activities to meet or exceed those goals
  • Coordinate the measurement, tracking and reporting of PQP savings impact for site
  • Lead periodic site continuous improvement reviews both internally and for regional roll up
  • Participate and support logistics for the site Quest for Excellence
  • Train site resources in the areas of Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean implementation.
  • Create contingency plans where needed to ensure achievement of site PQP targets
  • Become the "resident expert" for all Continuous Improvement activities within the site
  • Perform other related duties of comparable complexity as directed

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education: A BS degree in engineering or a technical discipline is required with a minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience including operations management or equivalent training/experience. 
  • MBA degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in leading 6 Sigma projects and Lean initiatives
  • Extensive experience in training, coaching and mentoring 6Sigma and Lean methodology
  • Clear and structured thinking and communication
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Leading cross-functional and cross-level teams without direct reporting structure
  • A solid understanding of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing philosophies is desired.  A sincere belief in the viability of these concepts and the ability to communicate and demonstrate this to others is necessary. 
  • Must be proficient in MS Office and Minitab.
  • Certification as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Black Belt or Lean expert is preferred. 

Travel:  Up to 10%
