Health and Safety Officer

Location: St Asaph, , United Kingdom


A well-established, global manufacturer of photonic products and solutions, based in St Asaph, North Wales are looking for a Health and Safety Officer. Their role will be to provide a safe workplace environment, without risk to health, and ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements are updated, monitored, measured and achieved. You will take an active part in working across functional teams to coordinate, support and advise the organisation on all aspects of health and safety. You will establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems, and ensure that these are all adhered to.


Key Responsibilities: Primary functions shall be to: . Investigate and record incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health . Prepare and carry out internal and external audits for existing and new accreditations, including ISO9001:2015 . Carry out risk assessments (COSHH, PUWER, DSEAR etc) and site inspections, identifying potential hazards and recommending mitigating actions . Review/update health and safety policies and procedures . Implement and update safe operational practices . Make presentations to all stakeholders . Arrange relevant training for employees . Forge and maintain relationships with all stakeholders . Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and communicate changes to the organisation . Analyse data and provide regular statistics/reports to Snr. Management/Directors to aid decision making . Participate in meetings, when required to report on health and safety matters to all stakeholders Personal Specification: It is essential that all candidates have the following: . 2/3 years experience of working in a health and safety role . NEBOSH qualification . Ability to remain calm, but assertive under pressure . Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills . Experience of using Microsoft Office . A professional and confidential approach, along with strong interpersonal skills . Excellent presentation and communication skills . Ability to work on own initiative . Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment The following knowledge areas are considered desirable, but not essential for the role: . Degree/HNC . NCRQ/ IOSH . Teaching/training experience
