The Engineering Manager is responsible for all engineering and technical disciplines contributing to an ongoing project and deliverables. The project involves the management of a fleet of high value and complex optical equipment and products requiring the scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing and management of all of the associated technical engineering activities in order to assure project safety, accuracy and quality from conception to completion. This is a customer-facing role, which requires the delivery of an exceptional level of service.
. Forge and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders
. Report to the Project Director on assigned engineering projects
. Monitor compliance to all relevant QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
. Interact daily with customers to resolve technical issues highlighted through the dedicated helpdesk
. Perform overall quality control of the equipment and report regularly on project status
. Assign responsibilities and mentor project team
. Attend on site meetings with customers
. Cooperate and communicate effectively with the Project Director and other project staff, review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions
. Work with the Sub Contract Manager (SCM) to ensure the best supply chain solutions are achieved.
. Comply with all ISO and health and safety requirements
. Prepare management reports and statistical analysis
. Resolve all safety and technical issues with products and processes
. Ensure all contractual KPIs and targets are met
. Deputise for the Project Director in his absence
It is essential that all candidates have the following:
. A degree/HND in Engineering - Electronics/Mechanical/Optical
. Experience of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Project
. Excellent communication and people skills
. A flexible individual, who is willing to work overtime and on-call to meet business and customer needs, possibly at short notice.
. A highly motivated and positive "can do" attitude
. Problem solving skills
. Data/Analytical skills
The following attributes are considered desirable, but not essential for the role
. A knowledge of the MoD Dismounted Close Combat (DCC) market and Surveillance, Target acquisition and Night Observation (STANO) equipment would be extremely advantageous.
