Our internship programme is suited to undergraduate students. You will spend 12 weeks gaining hands-on experience within our engineering department. Software Engineering - Product Lifecycle Management
You would be joining an established software engineering team that work across our diverse business portfolio. You shall be mentored and coached by a specific engineer allocated the role of looking after you. Our PLM system has an upgrade requirement to control more documents and generate Manufacturing BOMs, project time is needed to fully understand this approach and implement a solution.
We are looking for talented electronics and mechatronic engineers to work on challenging problems for our customers and project teams.
As an electronics engineer, you could be working on a range of surveillance equipment utilizing both visible image intensifying and uncooled thermal imaging technology. You will be responsible for a variety of engineering and design tasks requiring application of standard techniques and procedures. Assist application engineers with responding to field issues and root cause analyses. When working on any application/development project, the role can involve a hands on element depending on the interest of the candidate in this aspect of the work.
New Product Launch
Aligned with the New Product teams, and working primarily with Product Managers and leaders on the proposition/commercial development to launch new products. Supporting on operational processes, launch, and analysis tasks to drive the success of new product launches.
Carry out performance analysis, distilling relevant insights to help drive growth through interacting with product managers and programme teams.
Working alongside development engineering teams to deliver highly available, easy to use, build/test and release environments for our products across the business - testing and validating product as part of essential product improvements and customer related testing.
This includes product test environment automation and surface inspection data capture.
Performing fundamental engineering calculations through hands on experience in running and supporting trials and validation work in our product development facilities. Assisting with failure investigations, diagnosis and problem solving when required.
Support the Business Development team in the identification and tracking of requirements across the business. Budget management ensuring all financial metrics are delivered to expectations, close collaboration with the whole business to manage and coordinate administrative and operational tasks.
Knowledge and previous experience (theory or practice) of ROI analysis, market research and new product launch is a plus but not a must.

As an undergraduate, you should be on target for a minimum of a 2:1 BSc or MSc in any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline). Mechanical, Electronic, Mechatronic, Process or Chemical Engineering preferred. Other disciplines will be considered if you are able to demonstrate significant extra-curricular interest in Engineering principles.
You must be confident, analytical, enthusiastic and well-organised. Flexibility, good communication skills (enjoy talking to people face to face or over the phone and building relationships) and the ability to work under pressure to achieve demanding objectives are all essential skills for this position. You will also have a high degree of initiative, collaboration and be an excellent team player.
You should have a proven academic track record, with excellent references to boot! It is essential that all applicants have a high level of general education along with GCSE qualifications in Mathematics and English Language at grade C or above.
You must be a competent PC user and be confident using all Microsoft Office Applications. The need for flexibility is recognised and the job holder may be asked to undertake any reasonable task as required by the business, subject to training, and health & safety considerations.

You will have the chance to work in the picturesque area of St. Asaph in North Wales surrounded by the beautiful Vale of Clwyd. The majority of our employees choose to live in North Wales within a 25 mile radius of the facility but we are also within an easy commutable distance of the M6/M56, (Chester, Wrexham, Bangor, Manchester, Wirral).
You must be eligible to permanently live and work unrestricted in the UK for the entire duration of the internship, and due to the nature of our business we require employees to be cleared to SC Level by the MoD. As such, we may reject a candidate if they are unable to meet the criteria set by the MoD.
We would generally require candidates to fulfil the following requirements: they must be a born or naturalised British citizen and one of their parents must be a British citizen or have substantial ties to the UK. Candidates must normally have been resident in the UK for 5 years immediately prior to their application; this is particularly important if they were born outside the UK. Candidates will also need to complete and pass baseline Personnel Security Standard, Company Records Check, Criminal Record Check, Credit Reference Check and a Security Service Check.
